Soft Gluons and New Physics at the LHC

from to (Europe/London)
at Schuster ( Conference Room A&B )
Description
Our aim is to bring together a small number of experts (of the order of 12-15 people plus the locals) to discuss the role of QCD radiation in new physics searches at the LHC.
Topics to be discussed will include: Continued development of better MC event generators, exploring the role of jet-shapes and substructure as tools for distinguishing new physics signals from QCD background, new ideas concerning subjet filtering and jet pruning in searches for boosted heavy particles, effect of QCD radiation on other kinematic structures such as SUSY mass variables and kinematic edges, the role of new and older jet algorithms in the above analyses, event shapes as probes of new physics, impact of jet vetoes and resummation involving logs of jet veto scales and furthering our knowledge about the nature and role of the underlying event.
